The Maitland City Council has produced an iBook and Teacher’s Manual on the history of the early settlers of Wallis Plains in the Maitland/Hunter Region of NSW. The teaching unit has been produced by Maitland City Council to support local teachers in the Hunter region by providing a local context for classroom studies in the NSW History K-10 syllabus.
The Council have also produced an iBook, The Convict Adventure at Wallis Plains, which invites students to explore the life and times of Maitland’s first European settlement and the twelve convicts chosen to live there. The book is filled with written content, photographs (old and new), audio and video media, and interactive widgets for use in the classroom. The iBook has been specifically designed to support Stage 2 and Stage 3 NSW syllabus outcomes.
