Cultural institutions; universities; community groups, historical societies, local councils, libraries, professional and amateur historians are all invited to organise events for History Week.

What type of events are included?

  • hands-on workshops
  • lectures, seminars and debates
  • performances, concerts
  • guided walks, tours etc
  • exhibitions and displays
  • open days, behind-the scenes tours
  • other events, film screenings, community festivals

Benefits of hosting an event for History Week:

  • Professional promotion for your event – find new audiences or members.
  • Your event will be listed in the History Week program guide – 10,000 printed copies are distributed and published online.
  • Oppotunity to have your event selected as a feature event.
  • Receive an event media kit, copies of the program and other valuable resources for your event.
  • Link up with other organisations exploring and presenting history across NSW.

Event Criteria

  • The History Council of NSW strongly encourages participants to host History Week specific events.
  • The History Council of NSW will only consider events relevant to the History Week theme.
  • The event should support the objects of the History Council of NSW.
  • Event hosts must be members of the History Council of NSW.

Event approval is subject to review by the History Council of NSW. Please contact us if you would to discuss how to tailor your event to fit with the theme.
