Enterprising Italians were historically the proprietors of small businesses in the Leichhardt LGA with records dating as far back as 1895. From as early as 1908 the sweet smells of Saporiti & Bardelini’s confectionary wafted down Weston Road Rozelle, Italian Confectioneries and Oyster Saloons were found on Darling Street, Balmain along with the more recent Bar Italia and Bar Sport on Norton Street.
