Speaker Connect Program

The Speaker Connect Program for History Week 2012 will link professional and academic historians with community and local government organisations. The talks will be open to the general public at no charge. The talks will be created specifically for the event and will be accessible to a general audience.

The program will have three components: speakers, host organisations and documentation.

Speakers

Professional historians and academics will be invited to register their interest in speaking at a History Week event via an online form on the HCNSW website. This form will collect information about each individual’s expertise, publications and experience. Speakers will be able to nominate the locations they are willing to travel to and their available dates. The speakers will be paid for their contribution and all travel expenses will be covered.

Hosts

Community and local government organisations will be invited to register their interest in receiving a speaker via an online form on the HCNSW website.  The hosts will be able to select from a list of speakers available to their area to provide a sense of ownership over the event. Hosts will be provided with flyers, media releases and publicity support to assist them in promoting the event. They will provide the venue and refreshments to attendees free of charge.

Documentation

Each speaker will be accompanied by a documenter who will record their talk for the History Week website. The documenter will photograph, film and record the event. They may also take photographs/footage on location. A short film will then be produced to be published on the HCNSW website.

The Speaker Connect program will launch in March 2012.
