What's on?
> Annual History Lecture
History Week is launched each year at the Annual
History Lecture. At this, the History Council's flagship
event, an eminent speaker develops a theme of general and
historical interest, showing how an appreciation of the
past may inform our understanding of current issues. The lecture is traditionally held at Government House, recorded by ABC Radio National and broadcast on Hindsight in the week following the event. The Council also publishes the lecture as a monograph for sale on the night. The lecture thus reaches a broad public audience and serves to raise community awareness of history.
