Organising events for History Week
All NSW organisations with an interest in history are invited to propose events for inclusion in the History Week calendar.
Registration for History Week is FREE and offers many benefits for both professional and community organisations and individuals.
History Week 2008 will take place from 6 to 14 September.

Benefits of hosting an event for History Week

Find new audiences or members, promote your organisation or research project, promote historical understanding in your community

List your event in the official History Week program 10,000 printed copies distributed + online

Who can host an event for History Week?
Any individual, community or professional organisation with an interest history is invited to participate.
Non-profit community groups, historical societies, local councils, libraries, museums and other cultural institutions, universities, professional and amateur historians are particularly encouraged.
New collaborations and event ideas which foster the objectives of History Week are welcome. To discuss these objectives and your event ideas, please contact the Council.
Do you have to be a member of the History Council of NSW to register an event?
No, membership of the History Council of NSW is not required.
Event hosts are certainly encouraged to become members either as individuals or organisations, and enjoy a range of benefits. Members receive additional copies of the History Week printed program (subject to availability). By joining you will be supporting the pledge of the Council to restore history as a vital part of community life in NSW.

You may like to use History Week to explore ideas or promote historical understanding in your community; reach new audiences or find more members; showcase the work of your organisation or create opportunities for historical research, sharing ideas or developing a current history project.

Registering your event is easy and FREE and can be done on-line.

Event criteria
- The History Council of NSW strongly encourages participants to host History Week specific events.
- The event must have a discernable link with history and preferably some relationship to the broad theme.
- The event should be support of the objects of the History Council of NSW.
The History Council of NSW reserves the right to refuse inclusion of events in the History Week Calendar at its discretion.
